Northern Trust brings the PGA Tournament to Canary Wharf Northern Trust's sponsored golf simulators, located in Canary Wharf's Jubilee Place and Canada Place shopping centres, will replicate one of the holes on the Riviera Country Club course. Participants practising their swing at either of the simulators stand the chance to win a variety of prizes including a year's free membership and golf lessons at the soon to be opened Reebok Sports Club's "Swing Factory", in Canary Wharf, a customised set of golf clubs, and golf goody bags. Northern Trust announced its sponsorship of the PGA tournament in October 2007. The tournament, known as the Northern Trust Open, runs from 11-17 February at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, California, and will have a record purse of US$6.2 million, with winner earnings over US$1 million. In addition, the tournament will provide nearly US$3 million in philanthropic support during 2008 for educational and human services initiatives. Says Teresa Parker, Chief Operating Officer for Northern Trust in Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA): "Northern Trust has a strong heritage of supporting the communities in which we live and work. Through our involvement in this prestigious event, we are supporting an event which will provide funds to charities in Los Angeles on what will be our 20th anniversary of doing business in California. Our simulated golfing event in London is a great way for people on a global level to feel part of the tournament and we encourage everyone to come along and participate – whatever your golfing capabilities."
