Tournament officials at the Northern Trust Open announced that by raising more than $10,000 in ticket sales, the P.S. I Love You foundation was the top charitable organization in the first bonus pool competition of the tournament's TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ program, resulting in a matching contribution of $10,000 from Northern Trust Corporation (Nasdaq: NTRS). The TICKETS Fore CHARITY program offers nonprofit organizations a chance to raise funds by promoting tickets sales to the historic Northern Trust Open, to be held February 1-7 at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades. Northern Trust Corporation gave participating charities an additional incentive by offering up to $50,000 in matching donations for the organization(s) that raise the most funds over three scheduled check points during the six months prior to the tournament. The next opportunity for the charities to receive a matching donation from Northern Trust is January 1, 2010. "Central to Northern Trust's philanthropic efforts is our commitment to supporting the communities in which we live and do business. Since we signed on as sponsor of The Northern Trust Open, our primary goal has been to increase the amount of charitable dollars the tournament raises each year for local organizations," said Northern Trust Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frederick H. Waddell. "We are happy with the success of the first round of the TICKETS Fore CHARITY program and we could not be more proud to support P.S. I Love You and their outstanding efforts at improving the lives of at-risk children." "Congratulations to the PS I Love You Foundation," said Northern Trust Open Executive Director Jerry West. "They set the bar during this first stretch of our TICKETS Fore CHARITY program. I hope other charitable organizations take note that this program can result in significant fundraising in a time when charitable dollars are becoming increasingly hard to come by. And thanks to Northern Trust for continuing to show that this event is committed to having a tremendous impact on our community and proving that along with the PGA TOUR, together, anything's possible." P.S. I Love You Foundation, founded in 1998 and currently reaching approximately 600-750 children a year, is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to empower, inspire and educate at-risk children through unique educational and inspirational enrichment programs that run both during and after-school. The Foundation's goals are to influence Health & Well-Being, Positive Attitudes, Social Development and HOPE. The Foundation strives to create positive and personal differences in the lives of many children, so they, in turn, can achieve productive, happy and healthy lifestyles, habits and attitudes. In the years 2009 and beyond, their goal is to reach over 1,500 at-risk children a year and since there are currently no paid staff members, 100 percent of any support goes directly into the implementation, development and maintenance of our programs. "We are so thankful to Northern Trust for their generous contribution and to the Northern Trust Open for giving us the opportunity to align ourselves with this prestigious event," said Patricia Jones, P.S. I Love You Foundation founder. TICKETS Fore CHARITY enables participating charities to receive contributions based on the number of tickets sold in their name. One-hundred percent of net proceeds from tickets purchased through the program will go to charity- 75 percent to the charity promoting the tickets and 25 percent to the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce Charity Foundation, which enriches the lives of young professionals in the greater Los Angeles area to develop strong corporate, civic and nonprofit leaders through professional growth, leadership development, personal enrichment and community involvement. Non-profit organizations interested in participating in the TICKETS Fore CHARITY program may contact Brennan Cassidy in the tournament office at (310) 838-3707. Prices range from $35 for a daily grounds ticket to $100 for a weekly grounds ticket.
