The Northern Trust Open announced The American Golf Foundation raised more than $25,000 in ticket sales and was the top charitable organization in the third bonus pool of the tournament's TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ program, resulting in a matching contribution of $20,000 from Northern Trust Corporation (Nasdaq: NTRS). In the six months leading up to the Northern Trust Open, TICKETS Fore CHARITY raised more than $135,000 for nonprofit organizations in the greater Los Angeles area. Organizations were given a chance to raise funds by promoting ticket sales to the tournament, held February 1-7 at historic Riviera Country Club. Northern Trust gave participating charities an additional incentive by offering up to $50,000 in matching donations for the organizations that raise the most funds over three scheduled check points. The P.S. I Love You Foundation and The First Tee of Pasadena won the first and second bonus pools. "We are proud of the positive impact the Northern Trust Open has on the Southern California community and we are pleased that this program helped to raise the bar on what we can accomplish," said Northern Trust Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frederick H. Waddell. "We congratulate The American Golf Foundation on their fundraising efforts and are happy to support their mission of promoting the philanthropic benefits of golf. We thank all of the charitable organizations that made the TICKETS Fore CHARITY program such a success." The American Golf Foundation was created in 1995 to maximize golf-related fundraising activities. The foundation works with municipal, resort and daily fee golf courses across the country to make a difference in communities. A dedicated team of volunteers donate their time, energy, skills and knowledge to conduct fundraising activities, participate in community outreach programs, educate guests on proper golf course etiquette, rules and safety and help make the game of golf accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. The American Golf Foundation supports a wide-range of charities both nationally and locally including the Special Olympics, The Red Cross and Boys and Girls Clubs of America. TICKETS Fore CHARITY enabled participating charities to receive contributions based on the number of tickets sold in their name. One-hundred percent of net proceeds from tickets purchased through the program go to charity: 75 percent to the charity promoting the tickets and 25 percent to the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce Charity Foundation, which enriches the lives of young professionals in the greater Los Angeles area to develop strong corporate, civic and nonprofit leaders through professional growth, leadership development, personal enrichment and community involvement.
